To the Point
A just-in-time newsletter published by Lisa Kellogg

  • First Point: Silly Cheer

  • Mid Point: Wave & Particle Dance

  • Open Points: Bubbling Up...

My drawing above is of a papier mache work of my Mom's seen in this photo. Makes for a fun collaborative Holiday Greeting from the both of us.

Cheers to You & Santa's Silly Surprises!

What's with the simple line drawing holiday hat? Thinking it was time for a new photo, I took the head lopping zoom selfie. I thought better of it and was planning to keep the old photo when Ed surprised me with this fun fix, a simple line drawing. Of course, I had to use it. Thanks Ed, for turning lemons into lemonade!

As we cross the point of the shortest day & longest night, I hope you'll take a little time to reflect on 2023 & may you find new fruitful insights to carry you forward flourishing into 2024.

& What have I been up to...?

Well... Life continues to be quite full living in two places and all that entails. Thus the long gap in getting to this point!

The metaphor and the actuality of living in that uncertain gap between, is wonderful & complicated, frustrating... challenging & gratifying, bringing joy & appreciation. A contrasty Cereal Girl life, I wouldn't trade.

Am I a wave traveling between or a particle that's landed? Probably both on a regular basis, with intermittent variable speed. Yes, what a wild wave particle dance this spinning planet adventure inspires. I continue to muse...

Where shall I land, what will it be like? What might pop out of a wave into a something known & surprising in 2024?

I can follow a map or make my own map and satisfying it is to land approximately and still there are so many unexpecteds. Thank goodness!

How boring it would be if we could be so directive that we got what we imagined all the time... I'm happy to be in this great mysterious wave & particle dance.

A few things that have flown by this year; A big garden, full bellies & a freezer full of veggies it produced, fang baring, hair raising canine disruptions, happy birds and surprise filled native thickets. New moon meditations from 1/2 way around the world. Goodbyes, Hellos, let go of attachments, received delightful gifts. Did I say contrast!

Aiming to stay peaceful in a tumultuous world, trusting the process.

& What's Bubbling Up...?

I continue building Little Haven Arts, posting drawings every week. My long delayed member service will launch in January, the new year, a good time to start things.

Actually... anytime is a good time to start something but here I am at the crest of the calendar.

Fall View by Ruth Hamilton

Sharing more of my Mom's art, some good mischief that lead to several sweet re-connections.

The delightful couple that originally purchased Fall View had run Compass Music and Arts in Brandon. My Mom had been a board Member and friend but had not seen them in awhile. We had a heartfelt visit with them just before they downsized and moved overseas.

They sold the painting above and many other works in an online auction. It's large 4ft X 4ft. Without the room or resources to re-acquire it, on a whim, I reached out to a friend and fan of both my and my mom's work.

What a wonderful surprise! The friend bought it because he is a fan but also so that it wouldn't be lost to an unknown buyer and to be able to share it with us.

We are enjoying it for a bit while its new home is being readied.

What a fun unexpected adventure this Fall View!

Though my Mom can't see well enough to paint anymore, it was a sweet inspiration that there was a bit of a bidding flurry at the end over her work! A delight for both of us to enjoy the painting again and know in the future we can see it anytime as it will be near by.

You can see more of my Mom's art at her website until 1/15/24 at RuthHamiltonArt.com
After that, I'll be adding a gallery for her work at my site Little Haven Arts. Hopefully there won't be a gap but there could be. So take a look while you can.

Bubbling Up Over at Little Haven...

I've continued to draw at the Poultney Pub open mic. Here is one, I've added color to. More of these drawings at Little Haven

?!?!

My apologies to the few friends who have reached out in the last 6 months that I haven't gotten back to yet. Now that it's winter and once the member site is launched, I hope to take the blinders off and follow up.
