Hide & Seek?

What is Hiding in the Oven, Closet or Clutter?

Sometimes, I hide the dirty dishes in the oven. A few busy days followed by an unexpected visitor results in a quick temporary clean up. Not to worry, the use of the oven requires their removal and cleaning soon after hiding. OOOi! that admission would surely ruffle my grandmother, Lena, if she were here. She was a firm believer that you do your dishes immediately after a meal "always, no exceptions!" A bit too ridged for my style, as a young adult, I lived in resistance to that rule (no one was allowed to do the dishes immediately after a meal). In time, I realized that I was no freer living in reaction to a rule than living bound by it. Now, I'd rather be conscious of the choices and routines I agree too "inhabit". I still prefer to skip the thrice daily dish washing (once is enough) but, I can agree with Lena on the value of spring cleaning.

Temporary secrets hiding in the oven are mostly amusing to me, not as interesting as what you might find hiding out in the closet or cabinet. Physical clutter, mental cobwebs, all that "stuff" in storage can be deceptively loaded and worthy of attention.

Sorting and releasing old "things" invites our creative flow... You will feel lighter and more importantly you will create room for those new sprouts, I mentioned in the last issue, to expand.

What "once upon a time" valuable items/ideas/beliefs have become lead weight or needless fluff clogging your flow?

Call a plumber?

No, just set some time aside and get to it. You will thank yourself for the lift.

What unfinished projects do you need to let go of and what ones do you need to move up on the priority list and complete? What do you need to de-clutter? What might require a bit of scrubbing? What ideas or beliefs are you living by that are no longer serving you?

What's hiding that a bit of spring cleaning could help you part with?

I invite you to make it an adventure... and may you be pleasantly surprised by what you find and choose to let go of!

Ahhh that's Better!

Last Point

Recently, I was in a dip and my good friend Peg sent me the following quote from Lewis Carroll's Alice's Adventures in Wonderland and Through the Looking Glass. It was a nice refresh so, I couldn't resist including it...

"Alice laughed. 'There's no use trying'. She said. 'One can't believe impossible things.'

'I dare say you haven't had much practice.' Said the Queen. 'When I was your age, I always did it for half an hour a day. Why, sometimes I've believed as many as six impossible things before breakfast!'"

Thanks Peg for reminding me to get back to believing "impossible things"!

Any comments? Ideas? Feedback? Other "Points" you think I should include? I'd love to hear from you. Just reply and tell me what you think!

Thank you,
Lisa
